Patience My counseling internship has driven significant growth, particularly in developing a deeper, more resilient patience. Early on, I felt an urgent pressure to fix problems quickly, which often led to rushing the therapeutic process. A pivotal turning point in my growth was truly internalizing the lesson that you cannot want more for your clients than they want for themselves. Accepting this boundary allowed me to let go of the need for immediate breakthroughs. This patience has transformed how I show up in the room. I can sit comfortably with heavy silence, resisting the urge to offer premature advice. By trusting the client’s internal pacing, I meet them exactly where they are rather than pushing them toward goals they are not ready to claim. This shift has made me a more grounded anchor. Clients feel the difference; they sense a calm, non-judgmental presence that gives them space to heal on their own timeline.
